A beautiful poem from a talented STEM student Safio Hassan
Africa Culture When the sun is rising The darkness turns to light Movies often get it wrong While songs get it right
Our nation & our culture We love one another, Treat each other with respect & Kindness, just like a giving mother
Darkness filled with loneliness Walking without light Feeling scared & hopeless It brings fear No people No light Nothing Pitch black It felt like walking on coals Following like young foals Feeling pain
There are some pains that we can’t forget it There are some painting that we only feel outside There are some pains that we feel deep inside The worst one is the one you feel deep inside Through all of that pain I had a lot of gain I gained experience, knowledge, and life lessons Each lesson that we take at school is easier Than life lessons The more lessons you take in life The more experiences you will have I gained bravery
It doesn’t matters what happened to you It doesn’t matters what has gone past What matters is that you didn’t give up What matters is a strength and How many lessons you can learned from those experiences
Hearing the rain dripping down Hearing the birds sing their sound Hearing the sound of the animals being loud Makes me think of Somalia, I’m homeland proud
